Welcome to the Wichita Falls ISD Benefits Center. In today’s busy life style it can get complicated making sure you are fully protecting your family and assets. The Affordable Care Act requires individuals to maintain minimum health insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents on 01/01/2014. This will not be considered a qualifying event for you to add medical coverage in January 2014. Therefore, if you plan on using TRS Activecare medical coverage you must elect it during open enrollment (04/22/13 – 05/24/13) to be effective on 09/01/13. Important Things to Know for 2013-2014
Wichita Falls ISD Cafeteria Plan year runs from September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2014.Medical Reimbursement contribution limits for next year have been reduced by the IRS. Beginning 9/1/2012 the annual maximum benefit for Medical Spending Accounts will be $2500.00.
TASC Flex Systems is our Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the flex spending accounts. TASC provides a debit Mastercard for the Medical Reimbursement account that can be used at doctor’s offices and pharmacies. This card eliminates the need to file paper reimbursement request, but you must still maintain your receipts as required by the IRS.
We will automatically pre-tax all your health insurance premiums with the exception of the disability insurance and life insurance policies. Remember once the plan year starts you cannot make any changes to your coverage unless it's due to a Change of Family Status (COFS) event. The COFS events are due to marriage, divorce, medicaid/medicare eligibility, birth/adoption of a child and loss of other coverage. A voluntary change in jobs does not qualify as a COFS event. You have 31 days from the event date to make any changes. Please login to the enrollment site and complete a COFS Request Form with supporting documents and forward to Lisa Bean -Ed. Center. Contact Lisa Bean if you don't want your premiums pre-taxed.
Cigna Dental will remain the dental carrier for the next two plan years. Once enrolled you can go to www.cigna.com to print out ID cards and find a list of providers for your PPO dental plans. Click on the “Dental” link to the left to view plan summaries.
Standard Insurance will continue to be the Disability Insurance carrier. You can sign up for coverage during open enrollment without answering health questions. Coverage will be effective 9/1/2013. Any condition that is pre-existing will not be covered under this plan effective 09/01/2013.
Block Vision will continue to be the vision carrier for this next plan year. New enrollees will receive ID cards, provider list and benefits booklet in the mail. Click on the “Vision” link to the left to view the plan summary.
Loyal American Insurance Company will remain the carrier for our Accident Insurance coverage this year. For a detailed summary and claim form, click on the “Accident” link to the left.
Loyal American is our carrier for the cancer insurance. If you are applying for the first time, please make sure to complete the required application and forward to Lisa Bean. To see the summary details and claim form, click on the “Cancer” link to the left.
The district provides a free $10,000.00 term life insurance policy for qualifying employees. You are also able to purchase additional supplemental term life insurance for you and your dependents. Actively working retirees are not eligible to participate in the group or supplemental term life insurance.
There is a permanent whole life policy available through Fidelity Life. This plan provides simplified issue permanent life insurance that you can keep when you leave WFISD.
